I've compiled e17 from cvs using e17easy.sh script, but althought there's a

Hi,
While trying to reconfigure my desktop background I got this error:
e17setroot background.jpg
ERROR: Enlightenment cannot set up the IPC socket.
Did you specify the right display?
While dr17 is running on DISPLAY :0.
Any idea from where this problem could come from ?

Navigate to /desktop/gnome/background and uncheck draw_background.
You can do this with gconf-editor, or the command-line tool, i think
it's gconftool.

Hi,
For me, gnome-settings-daemon sets the wallpaper. In E17, I manually
start gnome-settings-daemon. As soon as I start it, my (fake) background
is changed. I use gnome-2.12. May be in this version, it sets the bg. I
really want gnome-settings-daemon to stop setting the bg. :-(

If you use e17setroot to create the edj file in e17 and have that set as your background, you should be able to use Esetroot in your .xinitrc to put the jpg up as well. I'm running on the assumption that you want to enable fake transparency effects here.

Once your .xinitrc calls "exec enlightenment" it stops executing. The
dbus-launch line provides the same functionality. Remove the "exec" and
it should work.

Accoring to the get-e.org user guide, when I point e17setroot at an .edj

This is because the IPC does not currently support passing a desktop

This wil be added soon, but not during the current feature freeze...

I'm experimenting with E17 on a dual-head Xinerama system. If I try to
set the background with e17setroot it ends up setting it on whichever
monitor the mouse is on - is there any way to tell it to set it on a
specific monitor or both?
