You can't upgrade the 1N to do E-TTL, however you can upgrade the 1N

Hi all,
Thanks for all the replies.
I'm mainly a landscape/nature photographer so I don't need 5 fps and that sort of
stuff. A good/real spot meter is probably the highest on my wish list. I heard all
kinds of good prices of second hand bodies in the US, but unfortunately these prices

I went through the same process a year ago and ended up buying an
EOS-3. As others have pointed out, it all depends on what you want to
shoot. Some cool things about the EOS-3 which made me buy it are :
* multi spot metering and spot meter linked to focusing point
* excellent AF and focus trackin

I am going thru the same process. I thought about the 1n, but I might end up

Lordy! I was told they were out of print and two book sales places I
checked had no stock. So I turned to the list and bought one quickly. I
should have known B&H would have them!
I hope I haven't offended you so badly you won't sell me a camera, Henry!

I'd like to know how you recommend setting the Elan 7 for outdoor fill-in
flash. Is there a particular flash exposure compensation you like to
use? Is there a particular exposure compensation? With my Minolta
Maxxums, I've always used -1.5 flash exposure compensation with +1/2

Hi James,
Yes, the 550EX uses the main flash tube to send the wireless E-TTL
control signals.
The only alternative is to use the ST-E2, which uses a filtered red
emitter, but with less range and angle of coverage.
