These days hardware dies on it's own without any extra help from
the owner. Are you sure your power supply is up to the task of
running for 5 years? Are you sure the capacitors on your board
won't bulge and die in 6 months? With today's hardware I would
NEVER guarantee a system to run solid for 5 y

Just start removing components until it POSTs. Try pulling the
RAM and see if it beeps at you. Make sure your video card is
fully seated. Pull the power plug, hit the power switch a
couple times and plug it back in. Be sure all your PCI cards are
completely in. I just had a dead NIC the other day

Indeed. Extra heat shortens the life of electronics in many
ways. But extra current plus extra heat gives a double whammy
to the metal traces.

I wouldn't be too sure that your problem is related to the driver,
because Enlightenment (16.x) still has some weird focus bugs. The E

I was doing it through the IBM BIOS, where there was a great "233 / 266
/ 300 / 333" option. Far too tempting given that my understanding was I
could just flash BIOS if it didn't work :(

I forgot to mention in previous posts...
overclocking that cpu may require cutting a trace on the cpu. Its been a long
time since those were new, and overclocked, but I recal something about
cutting a trace to get slot 1 cpu's to overclock.

p4r800V MB w/ati chipset... but I had an anomoly :(
Using enlightenment, while composing email with kmail (remote ssh), I bumped
the mouse, bringing up the settings menu.
I tried clicking the close button, but it did
I removed the battery and tried a few combinations of the BIOS reset
jumper (1, 2, off) with combinations of battery-in, battery-out.
I'll try pulling/reseating the CPU, hadn't thought of that. D'ya think
the newer PCI card installed (wireless) might be causing a conflict? It
was working fine b

Speaking of childish, I attempted to OC the IBM PC300 GL to 300Mhz and
hasn't been able to boot it at all ever since. It won't output to the
display adapter, though it'll seek cdrom, hd (2 clicks). 266Mhz was
stable... boo hoo
Tried everything, all the BIOS reset tricks I know, no dice.
