Good luck getting me in a tie. I might end up hanging myself on
a tech support call if I had a tie on! Now a shirt on the other

You know that back area where K-Mart used to be IS SURE growing like a big kid
on the block these day's! I've not been back that toward Valley River Center in
ages, but it's sure growing in that part of town - wow.

True enough. 10 to 6 Monday through Friday.
As a great man once said, "That be all".

Jamie,
I was merely referring to you going to Mike for parts and that VOS was
overstated in their policies on returns and fees. Hey, they still owe me a
refund, that they say can be used for something else I want to buy it, but

Just had to put in my .02 here since we're talking about the local
vendors. I must say my experiences at VOS have similar to what I've
heard here. I pretty much only shop there if I desperate, and even
then I usually end up deciding the part I needed isn't _that_

Now, I like that referral, than the VOS catfight's, Jamie. Seems to me, they're
making money off crap, by charging more than what you paid for in the first
place? Hmm, go figures, overzealous sales people, more customer service, nothing
personal, but in the wrong business for them, I say.

Linux Pro eh? I want a copy! Is there a Linux Home edition too?
Any limitations? I agree even the OEM cost of Windows is
ridiculous. The retail version goes for nearly $300 in stores
but doesn't require any other purchase.

Well put, Mr.!!However, for everything you get with WinXP isn't $179 "almost free"? ;)(heh, you get the right to spend a lot more money...)Have seen XP-OEM sold with keyboards but not case screws, that is a new low.
As an open-source promotional event, we could sell linux CD's... for free, or for
Fortunately ComputerBase is quite knowledgeable about what works
well with linux and what takes work to make it work and what
doesn't work at all. Hopefully next friday we'll know how well
linux works on the Core Duo 2 and Intel's new 975 chipset.
Keeping fingers crossed,

have not done business with them since, due to that policy, which I think is BS
and they DO owe I lot of people refund on returns, that we
Technically speaking, you don't need to buy a new PC but you are
supposed to purchase at the very least a component neccessary
for the installation of the OS. CPU, mobo, RAM, drives count.
Case and screws don't. Keyboard & Mouse don't really qualify
either though you need at least a keyboard for th
I would tell your friend to write a letter to Microsoft explaining.
He purchased a OEM copy from a local PC retailer with out purchasing a
PC. He should also at the end of the letter say he does not accept
the EULA and he would like his money back. Attach a copy of the
receipt as well as the OEM
Okay, some more details:
Apparently this isn't an "in the box" copy - shrinkwrap yes, box - no.
It is labeled as "For distribution only with a new PC", which makes it OEM.
They sold him $1 worth of screws to make it qualify as legal OEM
Just thought I should be clear on this...

He paid $179 for it... best offer I guess...
He thought about selling it on ebay but I thought I'd try and save him
the trouble...
