Make sure gpilotd is running (ps aux | grep gpilotd).
If you can get the gnome-pilot-applet package for your system use it
(the PilotSync applet) as it keeps gpilotd alive. If not there is
relevant information on this list regarding gpilotd and RH8.

To find which package installed a particular file, the command "rpm -qf
" is what you need.
In this case:
rpm -qf `which gnomecc`
which gives me:
control-center-1.4.0.5-10.ximian.2

Hi,
you must use the 'evolution-addressbook-export' command. This command
prints out the name of the file (/tmp/evo-addressbook-tmp.*) which
contains your addressbook in VCARD-2.1 format. I use it successfully to
export my addressbook to a web page for on-line use.

You must do 'killev' first from a terminal on both machines as the
wombat process (which holds the Contacts information) is running. This
way the recent changes are synced to disk. After that a copy of the
Contacts directory should do it.
First note: this should be in the FAQ? (is it?)

A current work around is to set your account to "Leave messages on

You can do something. Set your default Contacts folder in

Don't forget to stop and restart Evolution for the changes to take

Greetings,
when I have pdf attachments in an email, I have the option to "View
Inline (via Postscript component)" on Evolution 1.2.0. However, if I
select this option or click on the arrow, nothing more is displayed.
However jpeg attachments work fine viewed inline.

For me the gpilotd-applet works well to keep gpilotd alive...
You need to install the gnome-pilot-applet-0.1.69-1.ximian.1 package
because they recently separated the gpilotd applet from gpilotd itself.
The applet is available under Applets->Utility->PilotSync.

esd should be started when you login your gnome session. Make sure you
checked "Enable sound server startup" in the Gnome Control Center under
Multimedia->Sound->General.
If you're using KDE then there is some magic to do. Search the list.

Hi,
when I create a new appointment and I want to change the end time, the
start time moves one day back at 23:00.
For example, if I double-click 13:00 today, it opens up a new
appointment at 13:00 on the 26th. When I click on the end time, the
start time becomes 23:00 on the 25th.

Hi,
sometimes when using the "]" key for "Go to next unread message" the
message list doesn't jump to the selected message. Although, the
message displays in the preview pane (lower right). It's very weird,
and I think it happens if the new message is below or lower the current
one.

Dunno for sure but I think you should start gpilotd BEFORE clicking on
the hotsync button. It's different from pilot-link. gpilotd waits for
a connection on the specified device, so you should start it a few
seconds before clicking on the hotsync button. Just a wild guess.

This gconf bug has to do with NFS and/or system crashes. If you ever get weird
configuration issues like this you can safely delete the lock files after closing
all your applications, then re-login.

I have the same problem (reported in another thread yesterday). My OS
is Redhat 7.3 (like you) and I have the same evolution and *spell

I believe you should close evolution and run 'killev' from the
command-line before copying your ~/evolution directory.
This stops wombat which is the back-end to your Contacts and Calendar
information. It should also resolve any problems you have with your

Yea, this is all fixed in the development CVS.
For now just do:

Last time I checked in the evolution maillist archives, categories are
not synced by evo. I believe it has to do with modifying or adding
categories in the Palm.
How about something very simple, like syncing only the "normal" Palm
categories and ignoring potential problems with modifying or ad
Hi,
you need to use the Evolution conduits (EADDRESS, ETODO, ECALENDAR) to
restore the evolution data (addressbook, todo list, calendar) with "copy
to pilot" set and sync once.
I you are talking about programs and data from other DBs I think you
should use pilot-xfer (i.e. 'pilot-xfer -i *.db'
In the standard (1.0.8) version you can do all that except the [last]
day, you have to choose 1-31 so it doesn't work in this case.
