hello.. I have been dealing with this issue ever since we moved to
exchange 2000. We are running windows xp with the pop3 connector.
several of my users accounts are getting locked out as if they are
entering and incorrect password. The users account information
(password) is not being recognized

Remember when accessing Exchange sometimes via POP3 the username may not
be listed exactly how you would think
I'd still like to know Why the users are using POP3 to access their

What errors are in the event viewer on the Exchange server when this
occurs? If you run a network sniffer, what does the POP3 conversation
look like? POP3 authentication isn't exactly a complex thing

Audit purposes? Such as security audit? I'd say that you've got bigger
issues if your users are using POP3 and sending clear text passwords.
My opinion is turn off account lockout and forgo the audit crap until
you can convert these users to MAPI connections.
