This is a temporary measure until I put in a real firewall. I'm going
through the steps to obtain the money for a real firewall with VPN
management.

That all being said. If you plan on ignoring logic you can use ISA
server to publish your Exchange server. It will filter RPC data to
reduce the risks involved. There is a few docs on doing this
