You should be able to *view* contacts from Outlook as long as "Use microsoft rich text format" is checked on the IMAP virtual server properties. You won't be able to make updates to them or add new ones however. It will still display as an email folder, but once the items in it are fully download

Go look at the profile for the client [mailboxname]. See what's funny - ie. They're hitting the mailbox using MAPI and IMAP within the same profile, with both trying to deliver to PST... Don't just fix it - delete it and build it properly from scratch using only the services you need. -Ori
