Hi
I am not able to take backup of my exchange store in 2003 exchange server.
Whenever I try to backup it has given below mentioned logs;
Event Type:Error
Event Source:ESE
Event Category:Logging/Recovery
Event ID: 474
Date:
A -1018 error is almost certainly indicate of hardware problems. Your best
bet is to fire up a new storage group and move the mailboxes and delete the
old one.
However, you should figure out where the errors are coming from first.

I have new Exchange 2003 box serving 1500 users in a campus environment.
Currently using NT backup but would like to hear list members results with
other solution that will backup at the mailbox level.
Thanks!

Not sure what your budget is...but we've been very happy using Quest

take brick-level backups or use Recovery Storage Groups...
With Quest Recovery Manager, you

You can create new Managed Content Settings via the 2007 Management console.
Can you alter and/or remove them via the console? Or only via Shell commands?
If you can use the console, where? I have been looking and can't find it.
Will Managed Content Settings applied to the
I'm currently using Backup Exec 12 and it allows backups/restores of individual
mailboxes/items if you backup to disk. I also tested this with CA ARCserve and
the process worked well.

ARCserve.that word brings back nightmares! When the software was
working, it worked fairly well. I became quite the expert on
uninstalling/reinstalling that software; even when calling their tech support
regarding issues, most of the resolutions were this.

I had major issues with ARCserve 2000 - nothing significant, just couldn't

for the 3 years I used it.
I'm finding that Backup Exec 12 has its own quirks but I'm getting used to them.

What kind of quirks Roger? I'm getting ready to deploy Backup Exec 12

Yuk, yes, -1018 is a bad one and is usually a hardware issue, like bad memory,
system cache, or a hard drive problem.

That's not going
It's mostly me getting used to how BE12 works. I don't like not being able to
multiplex jobs so backing up 30 severs takes too long, but this is aggravated
by some network segments being on a 100mbps network and our aging DLT1 library.
Also, I can't encrypt data while using compression.
But
Yes, I have some history with ARCserve, and we used Commvault here prior
to switching to BE12.

Hi,
Having installed Exchange 2007 onto a new x64 server, I am trying to install
the 32bit management tools onto our Windows Server 32bit DC .I have
installed all prerequisites. When trying to install I get the error message
A Reboot from a previous installation is pending, please re boot and try
IIRC, that is set in the Registry as a Run-Once option. It may be that the
value is not being cleared with the reboot..

Using the Exchange 2003 tools through ADUC, I was able to easily create a
distribution group that simply contained all users on a specific server (or
database, or whatever).
Using the Exchange 2007 management tools, it appears that the only filter I can
really apply is by OU in AD, and then
There is no longer a Customize Filter radio button in the Exchange 2007 tools.
Sorry, that is what I meant. Is there a different way to do this?

I currently have one blackberry 4.0.5 with 100 users. I
purchased upgrade to 4.1 as the biz environment is critical I really
need to have a full proof revert plan in case the upgrade fails.
I was wondering is the SRP bounded to the Hardware on the server. If its
not I have the
New-dynamicdistributiongroup perhaps?

It's not bound to the hardware, but if 2 machines with the same SRP contact
RIM both will be shut down.. Requiring a call to RIM to get it all running
again..
