I've seen something similar to this before in 2000. Set the machine back to a workgroup and take it out of the Domain. Then reboot (which you have to do anyway). Then add it back into the domain. Then see if it works correctly.

IP and subnet have be checked, checked and checked again on both machines.
IP for workstation is 10.0.0.245, netmask is 255.255.255.0 and IP for Server
is 10.0.0.228, netmask is 255.255.255.0
