Ronthat sounds like a sound approach and a good policy, I
hope it continues to work for you. Major chaos is an apt term
in this case ;o)

To call gnome or enlightenment, you need to edit the .xinitrc file
In this file add,

Hope that helps

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. Perhaps one of you can give me some insights for
this problem.
I have a 400PII with an ASUS motherboard trying to run Mdk 6.1. I've taken videocards
that work in other systems and tried it in
this 400PII/ASUS box and I can't get XFree86 to work with any video

Civilemeyep, but of course I have no conclusive evidence
that the partition type was the culprit (Ron Stodden, in fact
believes that it's an ok, situation) but I sure will never allow
such a situation to occur again on one of my drives.

Ronwell, ok?! A couple of points. When I set up for my new
mdk 6.1 installation I only cleared the area I planned to use
with PM5 but didn't partition it. When disk druid made the
partitions it assigned the partitions as below:
Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1106 cylinders
Units = c

Hi all,

I have setup a workstation with dial on demand connection to ISP using
"demand" option in /etc/ppp/option file. It works fine and now I would like
to have dial-in access to this workstation from a notebook. What is the best
way to accomplish this ? Do I have to switch to using diald ?
thanx

Hi allI'm back to emailing on a Mandrake 6.1 system, and it
sure feels good!! The problem is it's a new install and I was
not able to recover any part of the old install's root
partition. It appeared to be totally hosed.
However I do believe that I've discovered a probable cause.

It just seemed to me that if I could create several swap partitions all
with the name "swap" and linux knows where they are and what to do with
them then you ought to be able to create several "home" partitions across
several disks / machines, rather like an unlimited home partition.
hmmm.
