After installing the Guarddog RPM using the KDE RPM
Manager on my LM7.2, my HDD went into a frenzy virtually locking up my PC. I
waited for 15 minutes then did a reset as I could not get out of the
process.
Anybody has any ideas?

Let me remind you, that you left out the "-r" parameter in "print command"!
So all files you'll print will be kept in /var/spool/samba (and fill up your
disk)! It is a bug in smb.conf example. I already reported it...

The others have given good suggestions but there is another way to do it
if you're wanting to use theme manager as you may have used in KDE 1.1.x
in previous versions of Mandrake. To do this you will have to upgrade your
version of KDE to 2.1 which has the Theme Manager in it.

Due to an ill conceived notion to try to upgrade GLIBC, I had to
reinstall Mandrake 6.0.
Now when I start certain programs, most notably ktop, I get the error

MandrakeUpdate. Though how I'd send a CR to a process hidden behind a
GUI is beyond me. (Fortunately, I haven't had this problem since I
switched from cooker to 7.2 betas. And it hasn't raised its ugly mug
under 7.2 final either.)

Well, when I run drakgw I get prompted for Disable/Reconfigure/Dismiss.
Anyway, you can do an ipchains -X or easier do a /etc/init.d/ipchains stop
and remove it from your rc3.d dir.

OKay, What I did was only use the UDMA33 ports for cdrom's and use ide3 port
to run Win2k, and Mandrake 7.2. Win2k is the master 20.5 GB and Linux is on
the 15.3 GB slave drive. The system boots off of the MBR of the master drive.

I installed the new kde2.1 and viola! No more sound! Artsd will not start,
