Interesting. I ran into the RAM problem only attempting to do an FTP
install. At work, I've set up a 32MB box to act as a newsletter
server. While it's running 7.2 now due to 8.0's lack of the Sympa
package (nobody say anything about the Contribs package, I already tried
that), I did install 8.
No, the FTP install didn't want to work either. I'm trying a standard CDROM
install

Has
anyone had any luck installing Mandrake 8 on a machine with semi-low
memory?

enough to create its install ramdisk. That seems a little odd to me since 48M
for an install should be plenty. Also, RedHa

Forgot a thing: In the new pppoe package in Cooker (and on the roaring
penguin site), there's a rp-pppoe-gui TK program. With this, you can
see if your online and also stop/s

Got adsl yesterday and managed the setup. though not using draknet. I
tried draknet first but it did not work. Then I ran adsl-setup and added
a defaultroute in adsl-start. Now it works like a charm.

I'm struggling with trying to get some files off a backup tape, and I

Mandrake 7.0 or even 6.x). Where has it (or its functionality) gone?

I have lilo. It works. It resides in /sbin just like it should. I
downloaded and built kernel-2.4.5 from cooker. It built just fine but then
craps out when it comes time to install it (via "make install") giving me:
Cannot find a boot loader, you may have to see why detectloader has

Thanks Óscar. Following the suggestions of others, I had already set a couple
of other font types to unscaled - without much luck. This one seems to have
done the trick!

OK i found a way to fix it actually i uninstalled abisuite but it might be
enough to comment out the line leading to abiword fonts from
/etc/X11/fs/config
# /usr/share/abisuite/AbiSuite/fonts,
just put a # in front of it i dont know if abisuite will work without those
fonts but its worth
