Not sure what the specific differences are, but very generally the
'enterprise' kernel is compiled for 1 GB of ram or more whereas the 'smp'
kernels are built for multi-processor systems.

I have the same problem but I have another SCSI adapter card, a Tekram 390F.
When the card is on the machine I can not see the ZipDrive.
When I remove the Tekram SCSI adapter card, the ZipDrive is fine.

I have been using my zip drive with linux since Caldera 1.3 in 1999. All
zips have the fourth partition. I have to reformat the disk if I want an
ext2 (see mini-howto on zip). You can check that by issuing the command
fdisk /dev/sda and then list the partitions.
