Check out your environment for the cron user. Most likely it is

Since upgrading from Mandrake 9.0 to 9.1 I'm having problems piping into split
from afio and gpg. This worked fine in all of the previous versions of
Mandrake I've used but now it's crashing. Here is an example of what I'm
trying to do:
echo "splitting /tmp/filelist$$";
(cat /tmp/filel
When bootup is finished, do as root:
ifdown eth0
ifdown eth1
and then open the tool:
netconf
It has a button (the first one) that is to configure interfaces
manually.

We have a computer with MDK 9.1 which can be accessed via xdmcp (server).
Now its kbd is locked, X crashed but we still can access it via xdmcp. Is
there a way of restoring mouse, kbd and X function without rebooting it?

1. telnet or ssh into the box and as root, do a "ps ax |grep dm",
notice the command options listed, kill the display manager (gdm,
kdm, mdkkdm, whatever) and restart it as it was listed in the ps
output.
2. from your remote login try running the displaymanager command
I had my IDE-DVD working with all Versions of Mandrake from 8.1 to 9.0.
But in actual Mandrake 9.1 all I get is

I have set it up as scsi-ide (as my first drive a- IDE-burner that
works)
Is this a known issue with 2.4.19-24mdk kernel?

I am now using an older Fujitsu disk (I'll buy a new one
eventually).
I disabled DMA access in the BIOS but the logfile during
installation says that DMA is used :-(
I tried to pass ide0=nodma to the kernel, as you suggest,
but the syntax must be different because the kernel
