A couple of my posts never made it.
I just figured it was the lists moderator forwarding them to Tech's instead

What I wouldn't mind knowing
Just do not use cpio with versions greater than or equal to 7.
It would appear Mandrake broke it. I have yet for anyone to respond as to
why.

A very standard utility, cpio, that has existed for decades, is behaving
differently in Mandrake 7.0
If you execute a script like
cat BACKUP.LIST

I have had one install of samba off of a Mandrake install use 'lp' (SystemV
style) as it's "print command"instead of 'lpr' (BSD/RedHat Linux style).
You want 'lpr'.
The odd part is that both where 6.5 installs. Go figure.
C
Mandrake's release 6.x had that problem. Check out their website and upload
the patches, there are quite a few.

The problem about learning about hammers is you do not know what you can

SERIOUS bug in the OS. It is my understanding that the BSD TCP/IP structure
has been brought over into the 7.0 distribution, I may be wrong.

Presently I am using a 3com USR56K modem and would like it do answer in

It does answer, but always negotiates a much slower mode ( I never hear the

Are there some changes I should be making in mgetty's configuration?
Thanks!

IMHO it is *nix major strength and M$ doom. The lack of a standard inter
process communication in M$ OS's is a real problem. IOW how do you direct
Arguments into M$'s find then into a Backup program?
I hope I explained this in a way you understand.

Not sure, but "multihead support" in XFree 4.0 perhaps? Or is it for
dual-head
matrox cards only?
Hello Rial,
It would appear you and Marcos are on to something. I see where the
Xfree86-4 drivers can be designated PCI slots. This looks encouraging.

Is there a way to start multiple X servers against multiple PCI VGA boards?
Any direction would be appreciated.

I have a firewall set up, with Masquerading and the like working quite
nicely...very cool...
But I need some basic NAT or inbound port redirection.
Looking through IPCHAINS leaves me befuddled on how to accomplish this, any
idea's?
Thanks again.

Hi guy's,
Just tried to have workstations jump into my Mandrake 6.0 server to
retrieve their mail to discover my install has ipop3d missing. Where do I

That would do it.
