This turns out to have
corrupted my DB. rpm -e fixed the problem and allowed me to
do rpm --rebuilddb sucessfully.
Again, thanks for your help. I've bookmarked the links you sent.

I'm at my wits end regarding kde and xinerama.
I've got the two heads running just fine.
I've got the virtual desktop running under a single
KDE invocation (KDE-2.2.2) so I can slide a window
across screens.
But there is some very annoying behaviour that I can't seem

has fixed the font rendering problems I was having, where pixels were

I need to purchase a video card for a system running linux Mandrake 8.1.
The card needs to have DVI-D (i.e. digital DVI) output to drive a

I'm experiencing a strange bug which I wonder if anyone else
on the "experts" list has seen or can verify and report on:
To tickle the bug:
cp /usr/share/dict/words (or any other large text file) to /tmp
The file should contain a large number of lines, say, greater than 5.
Now edit /tmp/
it is
only necessary to drive the Matrox directly as a video card and _it_
(the Matrox) does the conversion to PCI. I don't know.
If anyone uses DVI or knows the situation in general, I'd appreciate
it if you'd pipe up. Thanks.
Hello Prasad.
I have (I hope) a G450 in my system running Mdk 8.0, which I thought
had 32 MB of RAM as well.
I just started Harddrake. Like you, I have seeing it return G400 with
16MB of memory. I'm now concerned. It is a new machine and I have
not tried any highspeed graphics, but I've been
