l IP on 3306 still causes that
error, and a netstat -r still shows a connection was
made briefly. If there is anything messed up in my
ruleset, let me know.. I took the portscan thingy at
www.hackerwhacker.com and they said closing these two
ports shoul
ipchains
with the rulesets you want.

I tried to compile an SRPM, but that FG error stumped
me and searches for a solution on google proved
futile.
I figured that since Mandrake is a derivative of
redhat, the rpm would work..

Mandrake released a version of linux for i486 class
systems, and I basically went thru the expert install
and made sure X didn't get installed, cause I wanted
this system to be strictly console based...so 20 megs
seems to work great for console based. Granted
Mandrake's installer was a tad fussy
