If you are using cups and printing from the cl you can use a default
options file /etc/cups/lpoptions and include any of the job options
Mine has :
Default EpsonC40 page-left=49 prettyprint=true page-top=36

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
Save, reboot and see if your printing comes back. This may work, it used
to on 6.1 machines.
