Weird, I used DrakConf to repartition a HD and it worked pretty well.
However, DrakConf only works with fat32 and ext2 filesystem, not with
NTFS. Thats why I think you lost your fstab.
Cheers,

He is right, however, that it would be nice to have the option of
automatically re-writing fstab, similar to the way PartionMagic
remaps drives. I'm a little surprised they haven't done that already.

Hi !
First of all I want to explain my environment:
I had 3 ntfs partitions (500MB, 10Gig, 800MB), 2 Fat32 Partitions (2x10 Gig),3
Gig ext3 for system, 5 Gig Reiser for home and a littlebit swap.
Today I tought I didn't need that 800 Meg Ntfs and could delete it and make a
ext3 out of that. S
OK, what sort of voodoo must I do to get DiskDrake to make two new ReiserFS
partitions? I have tried three times now, each time I set the partition
sizes and select ReiserFS as the type, DiskDrake tells me to reset the
computer-- being an ex-Windows user, I don't blink twice at this...!

Hmm, this is curious. I have selected the Expert mode for diskdrake,
and can no longer get it to update the /etc/fstab with the current list
of mount points. I have the following packages:
mandrake-release-7.2-1mdk
mandrake_desk-7.2-18mdk
menudrake-0.2-4mdk
userdrake-0.3-2mdk
harddrake-0.9.3-11
Is DiskDrake non-destructive? Does it expand/shrink partitions without
destroying the data?

package newt-* is present in last Cooke
Chmoueltrue, diskdrake has disappeared from the rpms in cooker. And
drakxtools is there, but when I try and install it a dependency on
libnewt.so.0.50 stops the install and there is nothing in the rpms named
libnewt? :-)

SteveThanks. I tried your suggestion but it didn't run that way

If you are running multiple operating systems, that answer is a BAD
mistake, since you must have partition management software that is

As always, this is a distinct possibility, but only as a LAST resort.
I'd rather find out what's available (and open) for linux first. Once I
get a reply from the author of ext2resize, I should pretty much have a
good idea of what's going on. Kindof odd, though, that nobody has used

Right, the thing is this, though: diskdrake doesn't have any visible features that
actually PERFORM these actions. Of
course, I've already read through all of this on the diskdrake page, and it's FAQ.
However, John Harrold also replied,
saying that I could also use fips combined w/ ext2resize.
I'm not sure who originally asked the question, but I found some info on it.
I've never used DiskDrake myself (for these reasons):

"DiskDrake should be usable now... it can:
create partitions
delete partitions
change type of partition
Nobody has used diskdrake yet? If so, I still need suggestions on how
to create, shrink, and grow partitions w/out destroying their contents.
Thanks.
-Will the Chill
Has anyone had a chance to use diskdrake yet? I was wondering if anyone
has figured out how to do more than erase partitions. According to it's
web page, it SHOULD be able to shrink and grow, and create new
partitions. I have tried lot's of different commands, but can't find
any that actually d
