But some programs do interpret -- as no more options after this.
so:
"touch -- -foo" will work as the -- tells touch that there are no
options after this.

I have the same problem on an Dell Latitude D600 with an ati chipset.
There is no text or icons. i can click on the screen an things happen
but there is no icons buttons or text just grey and white windows.

about my Fedora 10 laptop were due to the first Beta of 64-bit
Flash Details were:
- Fedora 10 x86-64 with updates
- First Flash 64-bit alpha

I've been using the livecd-iso-to-disk utility to make F10 KDE4.1.8x
Live USB installations. It works pretty well.

I had found a way to run this machine(the one that froze a great many times).
I used boot parameter acpi=off and it worked fine, except when I connected to
internet. I connected with an external usb modem and it worked for a while

If you want to just try it, assuming everything is installed and configured,
try this:
dbus-launch fusion-icon
This should give you the tray icon.
