Today when I fed Hemy (she's in a cage on my back covered deck) she ate while I was there. I spoke to her and reached a finger through the cage to touch her head. No problem. Then, when I came back to clean her litter box, I took a chance and placed my hand on the floor of the cage and remained

Oh she is not feral at all, she is simply a sweet kitty whose previous owners failed her. Sounds like she would be a great inside only kitty :) We thought SuzieQ was feral until she started letting us pet her and when Charlie (the other backyard feral) went missing about three weeks ago,

Bonnie, I'm so excited for you! She does seem more scared than feral to me too. Why can't humans be as forgiving as animals? I bet you two will be best buddies soon :) Thanks for all your patience and love you have given her. Look what you are getting in return...so worth it! Bless you!

That's great news..you don't even need a feather on a stick - see, she's NOT feral at all, only terrified! She sounds like she really trusts you and wants to interact! Poor little Hemy, in great company! What I don't understand is this: If she has a cleft palate, how can she eat? Are you sure

Eliot Spitty, who was supposed to have been FeLV+ (that's why I joined this group), was trapped outside of our house, and we assumed he was feral. Now, that we know he's not FeLV+ (also thanks to this group), but has serious renal failure, he is the sweetest cat. Uses his nose to bump our faces,

The vets that treated her at Forgotten Felines said she has a cleft palate. You can see, when she looks at you, that the little place under her nose where the two cheeks come together, there is a little gap on her. But it must not be serious enough of a problem, because she has a healthy appetite

Unfortunately, I'm the bad guy because I have to medicate him with three different meds and give him sub-q fluids daily - his skin is very tough and I hate doing it to him - other cats have such soft skin that the needles just glide right in.not Eliot's! From:

You are right. She is not feral, she just hasn't been loved. I have one inside my house right now who is over 10 years old, never been touched by a human, outside all his life, felt behind when his caretaker  was put in a nursing home. I could not touch him for awhile. Now I can pick him up
