We had to euthanise Gary on Friday night. She was
looking really good last Sunday/Monday and only looked
OK on Tuesday but by Wednesday night/Thursday morning
she had stopped eating completely and Thursday did not
move at all (except to occassionally turn over).
Force feeding was not an option be
Nina,
I know what you mean about trying everything. This
was kind of like "Well, she's going to die regardless
so let's just try everything, even if it's not
necessarily indicated for her exact situation. Maybe
something will stick!" I don't mean to sound
negative, but we really had little rea
Michelle, here is the progression of Gary's anemia
treatment:
A couple months ago her blood panel showed an HCT of
31. 2-3 weeks ago she developed a fever and was
eating less and less. She was treated for the fever
but was weak and lethargic and her nose got ghostly
pale - that's when she was re
Gary is actually looking almost completely back to
normal. Her nose is not getting much paler. We have
tapered down her appetite stimulants to almost nothing
because they make her so tired. She is still eating a
lot (babyfood only with lots of vitamins) and looks
more alert now. She is followin
Thanks, Michelle.
After Gary's diagnosis I read a *little* about
Immunoregulin but haven't thought about it since. I
will ask the vet if she's used it.
The thing about our vet is even though she is
supposedly the best in the valley, apparently her
clinic sees very few FeLV+ cats (one per year
Michelle,
She hasn't had another blood test since her
transfusion and we didn't plan on asking for one until
after this first amount of Epogen is gone (next
Thursday). We weren't even sure if she'd live through
the weekend so we didn't have plans to re-check her!
Her nose seems to slowly be get
Julie, I'm so sorry about your little Lucky. I know
what it feels like to go to the vet and get a shocking
and final diagnosis. It sounds like her cancer
developed and spread as fast as my Semuta's. It's so
hard to deal with the shock of the news and the
loneliness of not seeing a little face we
Just wanted to give everyone an update - Melange is at
the vet, he had an empty bladder when he checked in
but he hasn't urinated yet so they are waiting for a
sample so they can do a urinalysis. The last time he
peed last night (8pm) there didn't seem to be any
blood and it was a normal amount.
Melange slept well last night and has been doing fine
today - eating (canned only) and drinking as usual. I
had immediately felt his abdomen when he first
urinated blood and have several times since and
nothing feels abnormal and he doesn't have any
tenderness. He's been playing like he usually d
My 8-year-old male negative, Melange, just started
showing blood in his urine. He was meowing a little
more than normal and walking from room to room
(usually this means he thinks it's dinner time and
he's trying to tell me) then he urinated on my bed and
there was blood in the urine - not a littl
