I have updated my page after correcting some issues Ed Hamrick has pointed out.
The problem was that my pictures corrected by SCARSE was done for Adobe RGB
while the original scans were done using sRGB.

My 1st one lasted about a year 2000+ scans before banding
problems began to show up in dark areas of some slides. The
replacement ss4k is fine so far (300 scans or so). The noises

If you scan at 64bit, then you'll be able to save the raw scan
(64bit, including the IR channel), and then subsequently "crop" the

P. S. My 6.0 causes a crash whenever I try to crop. I have been
in contact with Adobe Support and they haven't been able to
solve the problem; they have referred the problem
to a higher support level.
