I use the same combination, just with a different SCSI Adapter (DawiControl
DC7975U). After updating the Nikon driver like you did no problems at all.

I had the same problem after a new
installation of Win 2000 pro. I called Nikon because their instructions say to
install the ASPI32.exe drivers from the Adaptec site. So I went to get them from
the Adaptec site and upon reading the driver info it warns you NOT to install
them on a Win 2000
