Hi Craig, Chris,
I am still trying to figure out all the things you wrote, thanks anyway.
The more I do, the more frustrated I am, feel like getting back to the old
''pencil and paper'' style :)
What's the site for the online manual, again? Thanks.

I have music I scanned with SharpEye. It is in pretty good shape
except that Sharp thinks it is doing me favors by shoving notes into
different layers. I want to get everything to layer 1.
I would have thought this would be easy, but I don't see any way to do
it. There is a mass edit utility
Yes, I used # for sharp and b for flat. And I didn't designate a pitch
number either, such as G4. Just G# and Ab. By the way, I tried this on
two-note chords--since you had mentioned that--and also tried it on multiple
G# pitch locations over two measures and all of them changed to Ab.
Obviously yo
Hi MakeMusic,
I have used Finale since about version 2.0. I have published books with it
and participated in beta testing. I have sent suggestions and bug reports
and promoted Finale in all discussions of scoring software. I use it every
day and am grateful for your continuing development of this
I tried TGTools Replace Pitches, but couldn't get it to do anything. It
seems like the octaves are numbered, but I'm not sure which numbering it
uses. Plus, I wasn't sure how to specity flat and sharp. (I gather it is
"b" and "#'?)

Do you mean for example if a 17-measure region had G#'s that you wanted
changed to a Ab's, is there a way to do it for all 17 measures?
If so, the plug-in TG Replace Pitches will do it. I experimeneted with
changing G#'s to Ab's. There are multiple fields in the plug-in so that you
can change sev

Predicting how music history will be written is a curious enterprise,
probably foolish, possibly hazardous, and certain to be wrong. Moreover
music history is a dynamic field, with constant reassessments. (For example,

In "Aftertones of Infinity" Schwantner uses an "X" to show that the
music that follows is unmetered (the music is "framed in seconds and
the rhythm is interpreted proportionately"). Kurt S

Hi,
I'm using TGtools to remap certain keys, and my favorite is the ability to make F1=layer 1, F2=layer 2, etc.
Sometimes -- about half the time -- F1 gives me a Finale help screen in addition to moving to layer 1. Any way to disable that?
Thanks!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! At least I don't think I'm in a

Thank you for confirming this for me. The same thing happens in

Speedy entry:
1) create your triplet as you want it finally to appear, but without the
grace notes.
2) turn ON insert mode
3) insert your first grace note -- this apparently messes up the
triplet, but don't worry.
4) place the cursor on the note you just inserted to be a grace note and
hit the ;
I don't understand executable shapes, but I can confirm the behavior that
you observed and reported. After playback the slot for the shape in the
executable shape selection box is empty. Looks like a serious bug to me.

How does one add three grace notes before each of those quarter-triplets and
eighth-triplets? I've been having a rough time doing this entering the

than I do what I really meant and assigns triplet values grouped how it
