Maybe the maximum width for the bar is too low (in document spacing
options)?
It just happened to me and that fixed the problem...

I haven't seen that exact thing, but I have seen a measure do wacky things,
including, but not limited to not allowing multimeasure rests. My theory is
that the data for that measure has become corrupted. To fix it, I delete
the measure and insert a new measure and then everything works as it sh

I have had situations where I did not have all the measures
(vertically) selected, e.g. the treble clef but not the bass clef. In
such a case, spacing routines don't seem to work completely, since the
other measures aren't provided to Finale to work with. This has been
the only incomplete behaviour

Yes, I too have had situation
Yep, I've had that problem...occurs sporadically, and appeared as soon
as I upgraded from 2K2 (PC). It only occurs in Simple Entry, as soon as
I enter or change a note, the spacing all gets cramped to the beginning
of the bar. No workaround that I've found, just resetting the spacing
periodic
