I am running Finale 2003 on my new Mac Powerbook laptop. I had to use
this workaround to be able to print on my HP Laserjet 2200dn laser
printer (otherwise I would get an postscript error message from the
Printer Utility).
HOWEVER...my HP printer is capable of double sided printing, and before

Have you tried the stupid stuff like assigning more memory to Distiller?
Acrobat 5 is a notorious hog, and A6 is worse. On a machine with any
significant age, you bascially can't run it alongside anything else.
Also, note that AR5 exhibits font problems when bookletizing
Finale-printed files.
back for another round... i have tried several things, have
reinstalled a bunch of stuff, PS drivers, ATM, etc. so as far as i
can tell i have the most up to date components that it seems i need:
- updated Adobe PS from 8.7.2 to 8.8
- updated ATM lite from 4.6.2 to 4.6.2a: This update corrects
i also tried to open up the application DistillerLib Helper,
something seems to open, DistillerLib Helper appears briefly in the
top bar on the screen, then i am back in the Finder. is this
application supposed to be able to do something?

Starting in the recent OS 10.2.4 update, Apple has dropped support for
some printing functions. As a result, you might experience problems
printing from our products, receiving PostScript and FinaleDict
error messages. These problems can only be fully addressed in a new

Dang. Well, whoever you were who gave me that help,
I don't know about FinMAC2003a, but if you're on any WIN os after 98 thten
ATM (adobe type manager) is NOT used anymore. Installing it compounds
problems. Any version of Finale apparently needs a type manager which
post-98 os's do NOT use. Even setting version compatibility for the Finale
program

driver do you print to, Dennis?)
I use the Adobe Distiller (to PS File) as my driver. Previously I used the
Apple Laser Writer Pro 630 driver. When creating PDF for publication

What?
I don't understand why, after knowing about these problems for A VERY LONG
TIME, Finale developers have not yet found a way to dump data directly to
the Distiller
i haven't solved the problem yet, but have narrowed the scope down a
bit. macfin2k3a printing to acrobat v.5, G4/400 OS 9.2.2/384 RAM,
finale accorded 75M.
i deleted all fonts installed by finale, as well as any version of
them i had floating around in other places on my HD and reinstalled
Have you tried printing to a postscript file then running distiller on
the file?
Have you also tried the Check Document Fonts Against System Fonts?
