Bill,
Like I said earlier, the music I am talking about is not complicated.
When it does get complicated, of course I use separate staves for
soloists and chorus. It's certainly got nothing to do with laziness,
either, as I'm being paid by the hour, here. The situation I am
talking about
A few more not mentioned so far:
Biber wrote a very famous Passacaglia for unaccompanied violin, the final
part of the Rosary Sonatas.
There is a quite substantial one by Antonio Bertali for violin and

I have no idea why this is even a question. Make a separate staff for the
soloist, and then indicate "go get coffee" or something when she doesn't
sing. I am opposed to anything that is too accedemic for
"musically-challanged" chorus members to digest. I am not that financially

In choral music I've seen, it's been more or less a non-issue, since
each part has a separate staff (or at least a separate line on a staff -
stems up / stems down). The soloist is also broken out as a separate
staff. If the soloist is from a particular part (for example, a single

I seem to be singing the same old song but, at the risk of becoming
annoying with this, Bill Duncan's new articulation font set has left,
right, up, and down arrowheads designed to be used for this, and they
look good to me.
Some of Bill's things have become so much a part of the look of my
Speaking of arrowheads, has anyone found an arrowhead to work as a direction
indicator for rolled-chord markings? I have made my own triangle to stick
on the top of the default rolled-chord articulation, but is there no way to
have it automatically placed?

Really? So how do you differentiate passages that are to be sung by

In orchestral work, "gli altri" or "the rest" = "everyone but the

I don't believe so. There are many OS X applications that only
appeared after 10.2, and required 10.2. The MIDI/audio system was
completely different in 10.1, and so I don't believe Finale ever
supported that OS.

Does any version of Finale run on 10.1? I seem to recall that Fin04
would not run on anything earlier than 10.2.
