Can you slow down the audio tracks? How is the sound quality of the
slowed down tracks?
If it is like what they are using with SmartMusic, I wouldn't buy it.
SmartMusic's slow down sounds terrible even when you slow it down a
little compared with what Transcribe or The Amazing Slowdowner do.

There is. They implemented that in

Ummm.there *is* a movie window. It was introduced in Fin2007. Look

I'm wondering if the collective wisdom of the list might know this. There's
a quote I've heard attributed to composer Morton Feldman, but I can't find
the source of the quote. It's not in any of his writings that I've read,
and none of the interviews I've come across thus far (including the
Hi all,
Want to stop the Finale 2008 help file from resizing and
repositioning your browser window? This should do the trick.
Find the file Finale 2008/Help Files/Data/Skinmain/Skin.xml and open
it in a text editor. The second line of this file should start with

2. In normal time signature, do you know the way to obtain 2 instead of 2/4 ?
Thanks for your aid.

If your composite signature is something like 2+3/8, and you tweak

i have barely worked with MIDI, need some extracts from a larger
score to send to a studio to use. the person running the studio
session doesn't have finale, the composer (who will be in the studio)
doesn't know MIDI at all (not that i know much more...) and of course
all of this is thrown

Take a look under Program Options | Folders. Does the User Manual
entry point to something like Finale 2008/Help Files?
Aaron.
It does open if you go through the Finale folder and navigate to
Finale.htm - just not from the help menu while you're in Finale.

Hi Aaron,
It points to the right place, and the address appears in the address
bar, but the window doesn't open. I called support, and they thought
it was probably specific to my browser setup. They suggested
clearing Safari preferences, but I don't want to lose all that, so I

Hi Chuck (and SHSU list),
Do you happen to have Finale installed on a drive other than your boot
drive? If so, this could be causing the problem. For now, you could
either install Finale on your boot drive or create a bookmark to Finale
2008/Help Files/Finale.htm in the browser of your choice.
Hi Mark,

Under the Midi/Audio pull down (2008) you can look at Import midi
file options. If it all looks like it makes sense, you might just
try setting the minimum duration to eights. It's possible, I
suppose, that Finale is keeping a midi value of a sixteenth
