If I understand you correctly, you want to set the manual grace note
positioning to -18 EVPUs? If that's the case:
1. Set your measurement unit to EVPUs and select the region
2. Open JW Change (beta)
3. Note Entries/Horizontal Position
4. Enter -18 and uncheck Relative
5. In the Entries filter,
Does anyone know of a way to reduce the length of the ledger lines
temporarily when one reduces the size of notes in cued passages? In my own
house style I have ledger lines for normal notes set a little longer than

nope. but if there aren't too many, or if you really insist on it,
you can set the region to hide ledger lines and set up a shape
articulation with 1 line, topnote-attached and define up a metatool
for quick application (drag-enclose). set 2-line and 3-line ones as
needed.
Finale 2011. I go to enclosures and choose a simple circle. But it
doesn't go on the 1, and I see no way to make it appear. I can edit
it (unnecessary here) but there is nothing to check to finish the
process and make it appear. There was one apparently in the previous
finale, but not

these kinds of things don't just go away from one version to the

Are you trying to make rehearsal numbers? The simplest way is to choose an
existing rehearsal number in expressions and add the enclosure to one of
those. The enclosure needs something to enclose.

Katherine, for some reason, enclosures for expressions are hidden in the
expression selection panel. After you select the expression and return to
the score the expression will be visible.

Not if you use Keep Current as the grace note positioning in the Music

Thanks Jef. I was hoping there was some way of doing it with a staff style
