Voice leading and root progression. How do you spell it and where does it
go. It isn't a minor seventh, it is a half-diminished chord. A minor
seventh on A would be ACEG. You have ACEbG. Half diminished in sound but
what came before it and what comes after it?

Experience has shown him to have been correct. When you need to slow things
down, sub-divide. When you need the tempo to pick-up, make the pattern
smaller and increase the sharpness of the ictus. It works (almost) every
time!

I seem to recall that this is an issue involving the Microsoft synth. Try
using the Smart Music synth instead of the Microsoft WaveTable. Go to the
MIDI Setup menu, MIDI out option to set the default.
My experience is that it is faster to rerecord than to try to remove those
rests.
