I've been confused by some recent postings about EPS exporting on
Macs -- I thought MM finally straightened out that problem. Does EPS
export work reliably with Finale 2007 on Macs running OS X 10.4
(Tiger)? Any problems with embedding fonts, printing, etc.?

Hello Éric,
Let me stray from the EPS subject a bit...
I was in your boat for a long time. We were going to keep PageMaker

Yes. I have seen this band-aid work but personally I don't trust it because you
never know when these older fonts just wont work any longer in the OS or with
Finale.
BTW: The move to InDesign for us was not made with a decision to take a year
off and move all of our books over during that year
Éric & Paul,
I just did a quick test with FinMac2007a, 10.4.8 and was able to export
an EPS with "é" and so on in it without problem. The EPS looked fine in
Adobe Illustrator 10 and InDesign CS2.
Éric, one thing to try might be to make English the top language in the

Hi Steve,
I just did another test with Helvetica, Palatino and Times and all three
printed fine from InDesign. InDesign did warn me that the document
contained a binary EPS which might cause the print job to fail--but it
didn't. I also ran the EPS through
Distiller 7.0 and the PDF had the characte
Steve,
I'm on a Mac G5 with 10.4.8. Below is the info from FontBook. Hope this

Steve,
The exported FinMac2007a r3 EPS with these three PostScript fonts
printed fine from InDesign and from the PDF generated by Distiller 7.0.

Hello Leigh,
My immediate questions are:
1. What font did you use to create this character (name and type)?
2. Did you print it out of Illustrator or InDesign or did you just look at it
on screen?
I have found that Times, Palatino, and Helvetica are problematic fonts with
this issue.

Hello Leigh,
I'm glad that worked...
What type of font was it and who is the manufacturer of the font?
Are you MAC or PC sorry I can't remember?
This happens not only on 1 printer it happens on every printer and 6
different machines running different version of OS10.4, it also happens when

Hello Leigh,
The problem is with postscript fonts not TrueType. Your list below is
showing only TrueType.
That is the main problem.
Thanks,

LOL!
I love this. You have found some of the fonts that do work.
To be even MORE specific...
The problem fonts are Adobe Postscript Type 1 fonts (not OpenType Poscript
fonts because OT works). Basically if you had purchased Adobe Fontfolio 8 or
purchased newer than ~1993 postcript versions of Ti
Leigh you did help. You helped confirmed a lot of the things I've been
saying to MM about this issue which they are aware of. The problem is
whether they will do anything about it.
Thanks and have a great weekend,
