it may be too simple, but I recall being puzzled by that at the
beginning of my Finale "career".
Try inserting the Select All command again between Break
Multi-Measure Rest and Create Multi-Measure Rest. In other words, run
the commands in this order: Select All - Break MMR - Select A
Have you tried changing the shape in Document Options->Multimeasure
Rests? Sometimes older scores and stuff get the font messed up for the
mm rests. Usually changing the shape in there, or perhaps doing special
part extraction again fixes the problem
