Try this: Select all file, go to Edit/ edit filter. Then, in filter,
select only midi data and erase using filter. If that doesn't fix
it, go back and add other elements to the filter (expressions, etc.)
until it does

Thanks for the advice, Klaus and Raymond, but no luck so far.
The file was based on an ensemble template (not a pre-existing work,
overwritten) so I have created a new ensemble template, copied across
the music from the old file. This didn't fix the problem, so I copied
the music up to a
I have had a similar problem in the past but couldn't find a solution. I
wonder if you export the file as xml, import it into another application, e.g.
Sib or musescore or something else that reads xml and see if the problem is
still there. Then export that as xml and read it back into a new

I have encountered a problem I have had in the past and did not get a
resolution to - I had to delete the affected bars and enter the notes
from scratch. I am using the VST instruments in Finale: violin and
