My guess is that you have the text block containing the page number
defined differently than you want it.
Supplemental to my previous response:
If you want the page offsets automatic, define the text block to apply
to a range of pages. You have the options of user defined, all pages,
all right hand, and all left hand pages. When you do this, the page
numbers appear on the pages with the offset adde
