Uhh, I believe I've done this by accident before.
Sometimes in the middle of a heavy GPO project I'll need to do some
quick print-only project. I'll switch the first device under Midi
Setup to softsynth, since that is easier to work with on a quick
project in which playback is
This only works if you are using Garritan Studio, instead of using AU/
VST playback.

In Finale 2006 and Finale 2007, Garritan instruments are normally
directly loaded into Finale as AU/VST plugins. It's not necessary and
(in most cases) not advisable to use Garritan Studio as a host
device, unless you specifically need to mix and match GPO instruments
and SoftSynth
