my head around that, so thanks for the tips!

mark already gave some practical advice but there is not really any
such thing in practice as "real" proportional music spacing. or
rather, all music spacing is proportional to varying degrees but some
circumstances warrant an *almost* 2:1 ratio in horizontal spacing of
doubled durational val
Although I’ve never used it, I think that’s what Finale means by “Time
Signature Spacing”.
You should be able to accomplish the same thing with the right settings under
Music Spacing Options. I’m in an older version of Finale, but for me that’s
under Preferences > Document Options > Music Spac

visually-proportional notation. For example: 4cm of physical page space is
equal to 1 second of music, always, and all rhythmic durations are
proportional by their relative ratios. I.e. 1quaver might be 1cm in length,
