Folks I had to an archive reinstall of OS10.3 and as a result fink and
my fink installed packages are not being found after starting X.
Troubleshooting has shown that the path statements are correct.
Research has revealed that this problem is known and reported on one of
the fink lists however
Folks after running fink self update and update all my X11 starts then
shuts down with no entry in the console log. This was all working fine
prior to all this so I removed X11 (apples) and reinstalled it with no
change in how its operating, does anyone have any experience in this
and how to co
Folks, I have had serious 'issues' with fink and panther, per my
previous posts to this list, eventually though I was able to get
everything to work like I had wanted. I will not go into all my
'issues' but suffice to say I have reloaded everything several times. I
know the fink team is working
I have this same problem Thomas so you are not alone, however I was
advised to remove apple's X so I am confused, in Panther I want to get
some ports from Fink running and it appears that I am hearing different
advice on how to proceed.

accomplish, it won't work with Apples X installed. Okay no problem I
really do not care which version of X I use just so that I have a
version. Thus I want to remove Apple X windows and install the fink
version. Now I want to do thi

Okay I compiled it and it ran and ran and ran. When it finished I
used 'dselect' to install as mentioned in this thread. However the
frustration continues as Fink is still telling me there are errors

package database) that there isn't a system-xfree86 package for 10.3 .
Sorry for any confusion.

Folks,
I did a clean install of 10.3 and have installed fink last night, been
having trouble ever since, my programs I am wanting are nmap, ettercap,
proftpd, ethereal. Now I determined that ettercap and proftpd do not
yet have new ports to 10.3 so that is fine however I cannot get
everything
ge.net/doc/users-guide/install.php#setup
then you should do so.
