Been struggling with fink here the last few days. I've done some
searches on google and read the faq but have turned up zilch.
I'm running the 10.3.2 with the latest version of fink and developer
tools installed.
I've been trying to do a fink self update and it crashes giving me an
error

check when I get in front of my mac. That and the log
files.

Ok
I do have the latest version of Xcode and gcc. I do not have the
longjump gcc update.
Here is what I think is the appropriate lines from the ncurces config
log.

Do you have /usr/lib/crt1.o? If not, your OSX installation is
incomplete, this file comes with the Essentials.
