Thanks for the reply and sorry for bothering you again. I did try rebuild gnome-vfs by doing a 'fink install gnome-vfs'. It downloaded 7 more things (dependencies??) and started doing its thing. I got an error message at some point as following: gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -DGNOME_VFS_CONFDI

Because Nautilus is only in CVS, you will need to update first your CVS info (by doing "fink selfupdate-cvs" to get the latest description files) and also make the info files in the unstable tree active (see the "ustable/main" addition in the "Trees:" line below). This is what my /sw/etc/fink.con
