Dear Dan,
This is what I did:
I searched in google for 'Fink Package submission' and it Fink's
sf.net projects home page (sf.net/projects/fink/) was the sublink of
the first hit in the search. You don't go to fink.sf.net. Click on
'package submission' link in the middle of the second line
Does aptitude and fink share the same database and can it be used
interchangeably?
Why not make fink aptitude like? I like aptitude's automatic removal
of dependencies when removing the package with which it was installed
in the first place, if it is not depended by something else that is

Not directly. aptitude only knows about binary packages (either on
your system or on a binary distribution server) while fink also knows
about the source distribution.
and can it be used
fink remove --recursive packagename does the same thing.
It doesn't! I tried removing aptitude which I just installed with the
following dependencies:
apt-dev html2text libgettext3-dev libsigc++2 libsigc++2-shlibs sed
The dependencies are still there!
fink remove --recursive aptitude
Failed: Can't resolve dependency gettext-shlibs for package cvs-1.12.13-1

I am imposing a chill on CVS, for the 10.4-transitional tree (both

package, or fink itself. I figure that all three responsible people
are listening to *this*

Hi all,
after some hard work and many trials and errors, I've managed to have
a (hopefully) working updated AUCTeX package for Fink. You can find
(and test!!) the new .info and .patch files on the submission tracker:
