Hi -
Each time in the last couple of days I've attempted to do an update-all, I
keep getting asked to install some variant of xfree86, which I do not want
to install. I don't have a problem with xfree86, it's just something I don't
have time to play around with right now.
I believe that there i

Hi,
I followed the

I did the "sudo apt-get install bundle-kde" method to

After digging in /sw/etc/apt/sources.list I noticed that I have to call

Yeah, I was a bit too soon in announcing it working. I had problems
shortly after sending my first e-mail about it.
Hello all,
Has anyone been successful with installing qt3 with gcc 3.1?
I get a pretty good way compiling but then it dies with:
c++ -read_only_relocs warning -fno-exceptions -compatibility_version 1.0
-current_version 1.0.0 -dynamiclib -install_name /sw/lib/libqui.1.0.0.dylib
-o libqui.1.0.0.
I tried to install sawfish. It wanted libreps, which produced the
following failure. I am using unstable, and just selfupdated before
doing this.
/sw/src/librep-0.14-6/librep-0.14/src/.libs/md5.la ->
./.libexec/rep/util/md5.la
mkdir ./.libexec/rep/util
/sw/src/librep-0.14-6/librep-0.14/src/.li
Okay,
Finally found out the error that was causing install of qt3 to fail at
patch. Using the .patch file it tries to patch "qconfig.h". However, this
file is not found. So it hangs up. Is patch supposed to hang like this
when a file it's trying to patch doesn't exist? Anyway, it's something
The download problem looks like it could be due to the server dropping
connections.
For your other questions: have you looked at 'man apt-get'; and do you
mean the apt package or all the Packages.gz files?

Bizarrely, I was able to run this update without a hitch a while back.
The timestamp on the tarball is April 4, but it was probably a bit more
recent than that. Strangely, the .info & patch files have stamps of May
27 and Jan 16 (why such a difference?), and the .deb symlink is stamped

This is puzzling to me. I'm using the latest packages with no trouble.
Xemacs should not be using xaw3d at all. Could one of you guys send
me your config.log (for the xemacs build)?

Unfortunately, after the rebuild of libpng and libpng-shlibs, I get the same
error.
So I still can't get gtk+2 to build.

I tried it myself, and got the same errors that you did. I would suspect
that the source tarball has something wrong with it.

I don't see the "above command" in your output. Check a bit further back
and see if it tells you to run something--usually ranlib.
