Instead of the normal login window, all we got was a blue screen. Since we
were in verbose mode, we saw the window manager flicker off then back on.
Something was written to the console, but we couldn't tell what it was.
Rebooting into single-user mode showed that the use

Hello all,
First off, I would like to say that I *don't* think the following was your
guy's fault, but my father insisted that I write this (as he *does* think it
is).
After the earlier errors with ncurses and dpkg, we decided that we should

One other option would have been to replace 6.01 with 7.05 in the
relevant lines in the info file.
I would be interested to find out from the maintainer of all things
ghostscript and TeX, Dave Morrison, whether there is currently any plan
to move to ghostscript 7 for teTeX.

I finally managed to do it by simply adding this link :
/usr/local/share/ghostscript/6.01@ -> /usr/local/share/ghostscript/7.05
and fink is ok with that, I hope it won't cause me troubles ...

Well, I was aware of the problems of ghostscript 6 with teTeX. These
troubles doesn't seem to happen with version ghostscript 7.05.5 (at
least for me)...
In the meantime, I looked at what is installed with
system-ghostscript. It links all the 'gs' tools in /sw/bin/ to the
ones in /usr/local/bi

As I understand it (and I will accept correction if I'm wrong) the issue
is that ghostscript 6 is used for TeX, because there were problems with
PDF files generated by ghostscript 7 on OSX (this may since have been
corrected). Because a number of people installed ghostscript 6 for TeX

Hi fink-users !
I've manually installed Ghostscript 7.05.5 from scratch. I needed the
Gimp-Print drivers + X11 ones, so I didn't use the ESP version (it
doesn't include X11 drivers), I recompiled GS with all the drivers in
it. It works perfectly with teTeX.
Then I wanted to install GV. As GS i

Hi all,
it seems that xv (3.10a-2) doesn't open much these days ! most pictures
I receive now are progressive jpegs which don't seem to be well handled
by xv.
Has anyone patched it and how ? is there somekind of fink-based
procedure to do that ?
Thanks a bunch !
