Fred: This is a know problem that has been reported on this list before, as well as the nedit mailing list. It occurs with recent versions of nedit and lesstif on all platforms, not just MacOS X. The workaround is to open a window with File --> New, the open a file in that window. -Jeff On Sat

Yes, I agree that the problem seems to be with Motif/Lesstif. I had an old fink4 installation lying around, so I changed the link from /sw/lib/libXm.2.dylib to my fink4 version, and the problem disappeared. To whom should we report this? I'm relatively new to apt and fink's maintenance rules
