It looks as if I am back in horses after all. No regrets. It's great to have
my girl back home even if for a little while. The interesting experiment of
her sharing space with two Holsteins has been an outstanding success. She

I've been following this subject because if there was any real problem I had
with my Fjords it was this issue.
I thought I was retired from horses but my favorite mare is coming back to

To Robyn, Jean G and Jean E...thanks for your comments. As long as I've
been on the list I haven't read too much about therapeutic riding and in my
head had a rather benign image of what went on but realizing that the horse

A couple of things I found out about feeding oil. First, corn oil seems to

This is from my experience upon the arrival of a 12 year old mare who had
had several homes previous to mine.
The first week she was perfect. She was willing to be led anywhere, was

Thanks for the offer Cynthia. I had investigated Las Cruces as you know,
even had a realtor hot and heavy on the phone, but alas, Husband wanted to

I'll chime in here. I'm wondering if the handicapped center that has my
horses will take me as a client. All those helping hands to get me on and
off. Their oldest client is 78 so I'm still a youngster.
Another possibility once we all get

Ooops! Sorry for not editing my reply to Stockwell for offer to adopt family.

I've been following the posts regarding Fjord behavior, notably the pushy
part. I thought it might be interesting to relate here that horses can act
different ways in different places and what can be an asset (?) can also be a

After considering a number of places to retire to we've settled on the town of
Shallotte, NC which is halfway between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. To my
dismay I could find no suitable boarding facilities that either I or my mare
would find

Another tip to keep tack from getting moldy ...after it is cleaned...is a
product I've used with great success called Damp Rid found in the
supermarket or Home Depot household supplies aisle. It comes in refillable
canisters that you set out

I can't resist a reply here to any way they want. I'm an Easterner but
most of our rules about horses come from the British who among other
places settled in parts of Canada. The problem with any way they want is
apparent in the way people
