I don't think there is a completely reliable way to detect whe
cond after the
video has started. And why does changing the bufferTime cause the
Buffer.Empty event to not fire at all?

Great ideas, meanwhile I did a work around.
I did find a way to supposedly use javascript to get label of current frame
(using tcurrentlabel) which I never got working. I do hear that in Flash 9 it is all easy as can be, just say what's my label and it tells you.
