Also I think in the
configuration that you are using you must also complete the mic ground as well
as the speakers as some have reported. If we do another board which allows
options such as these, I'll definitely go with Berg connectors and removable
jumpers.

Second comment. Or Question.
Make sure you are using a stereo plug from the microphone to the Mic in.
Although I have not traced it, or the ramifications, using a mono plug would
short the sleeve and the ring.
In another context this is
true of single stereo jacks on the backs

Yep.. like the old Unckle Rhemus story "Tar Baby"... fitting that the

After I got my $1300 or so SDR-1000 the only recourse I had, was to surround
it with a $10,000, upgrade to my aging shack and antenna farm... but it HAS

I have only laptop computers and do not wish to get back into larger box computers but I would like to have aqn SDR-1000.
M-Audio does provide some high performance USB sound systems that might be equal to the Delta-44 card. For example their Fast Track Pro mobile model http://www.m-audio.com/pr

four input which is not used when the mic is plugged directly into
I've been getting some nice reports using the PR-40 through the W2IHY EQPlus

Title: Microphone recommendations
Tim,
We have a few recommendations in the
Operations manual, but there are certainly a lot of good options out
there. If using the Delta 44, it is
not _necessary_ to have a preamp,
but it will help your signal to noise ratio a bit if you do use one.
