Cecil,
Changing development software in the middle of a large project is a
pretty dangerous thing to do. The main problem is that while some
piece of code may compile correctly it may not work exactly the same
way as with the old development environment. Because, in a project

Hey Steve,
I am going to try to replicate my thought and decision making processes
so you can understand why I did what I did and how I came to do it.
First, I knew that a multiple processor/hyperthreaded/dual core CPU
would be a plus since PowerSDR is multi-threaded. I do see the load

Great post! Let the software folks totally exhaust themselves BEFORE we look

This is very true. Only benefit I found from building my own computer is I
could put every kind of EMI proof gadget in there I could. Specially
shielded ENERMAX power supply, shielded IDE cables with ground lugs, better
case...etc. I get zero computer noise so guess it was worth it.

Include the PowerMate in that too.

Tim,
I was also operating as a casual "little pistol" on the 160m contest.
I made practically the same observations as you did. The most annoying thing
was a slight, but noticeable, delay between PTT release & rcvr audio back on.
Maybe I have something set up wrong. At least, not set up the

Welcome aboard.
I'm in the Washington DC area, have had the SDR-1000 since MAY 05 and think
it's the best.

Great to hear that you're considering our radio. The answer to your

no guarantees. Generally, we have a recommendation that you use either

I like the ideas keep them coming. Let me just throw in there that we
intend to have a mode specific control area with the next console. This
will allow such things as a Third Party Digital Mode Program Profile
combobox (hopefully with a shorter name), and things like the transmit

This is completely possible in software and is what I was trying to
describe earlier (though I did a poor job). Basically, we can separate
the monitor and transmit audio in the DSP and allow the transmit side to
be buffered. This will also allow us to transmit at an IF while not
losing the abilit
