I would not necessarily turn of paging, I have found over time it
makes things unstable even when you have 3 gigs installed (plus I
doubt if that would be the culprit). Can you bring up the services
manager and take a screenshot of it and send it to me?

Windows XP. He has a page or 2 of all of the services with
recommendations on which ones are safe to turn off. In his list,

For XP, SP2 - hot Fix kb885222
for XP, SP3 - hot fix kb955408 <= must have for a iMac, running
